Instead of May flowers this year, we got loads of May showers. Rain all night, rain every day. Torrential and steady, the rain continued day after day. And then the sun emerged. It was nice to enjoy a summer day without rain. I stepped out to enjoy time on my patio and was annoyed to see the sight, and height, of my grass. The ongoing rain contributed to the grass growth…and now some serious lawn work needed to be done.
How too are our lives like this? We endure trials and tests continually. We’re in the middle of hard life circumstances and it seems like we cannot catch our breath. And then, the sun comes out, things lighten up. We start winning.
It’s important to remember after hardship, we experience emotional growth. Just like those weeds overtaking my lawn after heavy rains, you’ll experience growth after your personal storms. And that growth must be managed. How do you do this?
1. Meditate and pray. Connect with God about what needs to stay or go in your life after the storms.
2. Invest time in therapy. A good trained therapist can help you navigate these changes.
3. Give yourself grace. Be patient as your figure out the you who’s emerging.
